Barnsley appointed Paul Heckingbottom as their head coach on a 12-month rolling contract in February 2016.
He led the Tykes to victory in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final and League One play-off final, winning 13 of his initial 21 games in charge, culminating in a 3-1 win over Millwall at Wembley, as Barnsley returned to the Championship after a two-season absence.
This season, Barnsley have maintained that momentum and are in the upper echelons of the Sky Bet Championship at the time of writing.
Sessions by Paul Heckingbottom
This session is all about building the defensive role of every position when out of possession. It starts with individuals defending in 1v1 and 3v2 situations and builds all the way through the units to whole team defending when out of possession. I like this session because all the problems posed to players are realistic to game situations. MORE
in Formations and Tactics, Midfield
The aim of this session is to prevent the opposition from playing through your team's midfield and then to regain the ball by controlling where opponents play. MORE
