Quick finishing

Quick finishing

Use this fast and frantic work out to encourage quick finishing in the context of a small-sided game. It is vital that your players understand and differentiate between shooting and finishing – they should be taking quick and accurate shots on goal rather than just hitting the ball and hoping.

Biography

After a glittering playing career most notable for spells at Celtic and Manchester United, Brian McClair turned to coaching in 1998 when he was appointed assistant manager to Brian Kidd at Blackburn Rovers. In 2001 he returned to Manchester United as reserve team manager and won the Premier Reserve League North in his first season, followed by success with the U19 team that lifted the 2003 FA Youth Cup. Taking on the role of director of the club’s youth academy in 2006, McClair remained in that post until he was appointed national performance director by the Scottish FA in February 2015.
