Brian McDermott

Brian McDermott was appointed by Reading for a second spell in charge on 17th December 2015, having previously managed Leeds United.

McDermott’s previous spell at Reading had begun in December 2000 serving as chief scout as well as reserve team manager.

He became caretaker manager of Reading after the departure of Brendan Rodgers in December 2009. During his time in caretaker charge he enjoyed notable FA cup wins at Anfield and at home to Burnley.

Appointed on a permanent basis he took the club to the promotion play-off final in 2011. Though defeated then, they went up to the Premier League as champions a year later. He has also served as chief scout for Arsenal, where he began his playing career making 72 appearances.
