This session is about crossing and finishing from wide areas, and is one we’ll perform up to three times a week because in Jordan Rhodes and Rudy Gestede we have two players who thrive on service from the flanks.

This session is not only about having an appreciation of the ball and keeping possession, but also looks at the importance of winning possession back, both as individuals and in packs – emphasising the value of players being hard to beat.

Biography

Gary Bowyer has managed Blackburn Rovers, Blackpool and Bradford City. After a playing career at Hereford United, Nottingham Forest and Rotherham United was cut short through injury, Bowyer went into coaching, joining Ilkeston. He moved into youth coaching spending six years at Before joining Blackburn  in the summer of 2004 in charge of the Under-18s. Bowyer moved up to take charge of the club's Reserve team, guiding them to the Premier League North title in 2010-11. In December 2012 Bowyer took over as caretaker manager of the senior side, his first spell in charge of the first team resulted in a run of three wins and a draw. In March 2013 Bowyer was re-appointed as caretaker manager guiding the side to Championship safety during his nine games at the helm before his permanent appointment. In his first full season in charge, Blackburn finished 8th in the Championship, narrowly missing out on a play-off position. He joined Blackpool in August 2018 steering the club to promotion from League Two. He took over at Bradford in April 2019, departing in February 2020. His father, Ian, won two European Cup finals with Nottingham Forest and managed Hereford United.
