Dr Eirik Wik

Eirik Halvorsen Wik is a Scientific Researcher at Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital (Qatar) and Research Fellow with Stellenbosch University (South Africa). He completed his PhD in 2021 through a collaborative project between Aspetar, Aspire Academy, and the Oslo Sports Trauma Research Centre, examining injury patterns in youth athletes. After his PhD, he spent 3.5 years as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Stellenbosch University, focusing on research relating to injury prevention and youth athletic development. He has practical experience as a physical performance coach in the Norwegian female top division and as a sport science consultant with Stellenbosch FC in the South African Premier Soccer League. He is also part of an advisory group with the Norwegian FA, aiming to educate coaches and academies on topics relating to growth and maturation.
