Following an 18-year professional playing career, Ian Baraclough stepped into the coaching side of the game at Scunthorpe United, in 2006. He finally hung up his boots in 2008, before moving into the managerial hotseat.

After departing Scunthorpe, he fought off stiff competition to land the Sligo Rovers job in February 2012, and within eight months had led the club to their first League of Ireland title in 35 years.
