Paul Hart became Academy Director at Charlton Athletic in June 2011, with the task of bringing through the next generation of footballer from a club that, in recent years, has provided an impressive array of young stars.
Hart has a wealth of experience in this type of role, having overseen the development of players such as Michael Dawson, Jermaine Jenas and Andy Reid at Nottingham Forest from 2001. The 59-year-old had already been youth coach at Leeds United and first-team manager at Chesterfield, and he moved into the hotseat at Forest in 2001, before taking on managerial roles at Barnsley and Rushden & Diamonds.
He secured Portsmouth’s Premier League survival in 2009 and then enjoyed spells at QPR, Crystal Palace and Swindon Town.
As a player, Hart made his debut at the age of 17 for Stockport County, in a career that also saw him turn out for Blackpool, Leeds United, Forest and Sheffield Wednesday.
