After making more than 500 senior appearances as a professional – notably for Crewe Alexandra, Burnley and Barnsley – Steve Davis took his first steps into management when taking charge at non-league Northwich Victoria in 2003, before moving on to Nantwich town a year later. There, he clinched two promotions and victory in the FA Vase final at Wembley, his achievements alerting the attention of Crewe Alexandra, who he joined in 2009 as assistant manager.

Moving into the managerial hotseat in 2011, Davis clinched promotion from npower League Two in his first season in charge, with a play-off victory at Wembley against Cheltenham Town. Crewe are now consolidating well in League One.

Meanwhile, Player Development Manager James Collins is a highly regarded member of the club’s Academy set-up, with particular responsibility over the Under-16 and Under-18 sides, plus development squad.
