Pressing and closing down

Out of Possession

This session is all about individual players closing down the opposition when they have the ball. I have developed this session over the years and the players enjoy it because of the intensity. They like it because they learn the group triggers of when to close the ball down and also because it leaves them with a feeling that they are in control as a team, even when the opposition have the ball.

Biography

Steve Kean landed the manager’s job at Blackburn Rovers in December 2010, successfully leading the Lancashire side to safety in the Barclays Premier League. The appointment represented Kean’s first time in the managerial hotseat having previously taken the role of assistant manager at Reading, Fulham, Real Sociedad and Coventry City. Kean, who originally arrived at Ewood Park as first-team coach in August 2009, impressed as Rovers gained eight points from their final four matches to remain in England’s top division. After leaving Rovers in 2012 Kean managed Brunei DPMM in Singapore's S.League winning the title title in 2015, earning the league's coach of the year award, and the league cup in 2014. He also enjoyed a spell as head coach of the Brunei national side.
