November 2023

Welcome to the November 2023 issue of Elite Soccer. In this month’s magazine we have five more training ground sessions written by some of the best managers and coaches in the professional game.

We’re delighted to begin this issue with a series of drills written by the former Spain and Real Madrid manager, Julen Lopetegui. He has shared a collection of his favourite activities that together represent his coaching philosophy, beginning with an exercise to rehearse playing out from the back.

Next we have a session from Neil Lennon. In this issue, the former Celtic manager focuses on counter-attacking and counter-pressing, while Barnsley manager, Neill Collins, has penned a session designed to teach teams to utilise wing backs in build-up play and attack.

Stevie Grieve is the manager of Finnish outfit, SK Akatemia, and he has shared a training plan to encourage players to make killer passes to players running in behind.

At Elite Soccer we like to shine a light on the talented coaches in the British academy system and this month is no exception. We conclude this issue with Manisha Tailor MBE, who works at the QPR Academy. She has shared a session that encourages pivot play, with an emphasis on midfield movement.

I hope you find that this month’s sessions will assist your coaching and please let us know how you get on. We will return next month with five more sessions to help develop your team.
