Kevin Bond

Kevin Bond was most recently the manager of Southend United. Bond was manager of Hong Kong Premier League club Hong Kong Pegasus from April, 2016. Bond led Pegasus to a double cup win, and at the end of the season it was announced that he would have a second tenure. Previously, Bond was caretaker manager of QPR as well as being appointed first-team coach of Aston Villa. Kevin, the son of former manager - John Bond, began his playing career at Norwich City, whilst his Dad was the boss. He proved his value to the team eventually playing 161 times for the club scoring 14 goals, and 2 England 'B' caps. Unlike most players of his time, he was attracted by the bright lights of America moving to the NASL with the Seattle Sounders before returning to England and his father at Manchester City for the start of the 1981/82 season. Following 110 games for City, he moved to Southampton, where he spent 4 years, playing 140 games. After 4 years, he moved along the South coast joining former club Bournemouth, with whom he played 126 matches, before transferring to Exeter City, Sittingbourne and Dover Athletic where he finished his career. Bond began his coaching career as Reserve Team coach at former club Manchester City after which he expanded his experience with coaching roles at Wrexham and Altrincham. In 1997 he took the plunge into front line management taking over at Stafford Rangers in October 1997. By early May 1998, Kevin was named as Assistant Manager to Alan Ball at Portsmouth after which he became a scout for West Ham United, and then reserve team coach under Harry Redknapp at the club. Kevin then spent the next portion of his working life working with Harry at Southampton and Portsmouth as Assistant Manager. He then left the safety of Harry to join another ex-West Ham player/manager - Glenn Roeder at Newcastle as his Assistant before having his contract terminated on 26 September 2006. It didn't take Kevin long to find his own front line managerial job, as he took over as manager of A.F.C. Bournemouth on 12 October 2006. He was in charge for almost two years before he became Redknapp's assistant at White Hart Lane. Spurs had just two points from the first eight games in the league but Bond then helped guide Spurs to an eighth place finish as well as the Carling Cup Final in 2009. The following season, saw more success as Tottenham finished in fourth place in the Barclays Premier League, ensuring Champions League football. Following their qualification to the Champions League, Spurs reached the quarter finals of the competition. Their incredible journey included Spurs topping the group stages over Inter Milan, Werder Bremen and FC Twente, all of whom won their respective leagues in the previous season. They also had another fantastic campaign in the Barclays Premier League by finishing fifth, thereby qualifying for the Europa league. Another successful season followed in 2011/12 and Bond helped guide Tottenham to a 4th place finish in the Barclays Premier League and the club also reached The FA Cup semi-final.
