2v2s with recovery runs

This 2v2 exercise focuses on players making recovery runs, then being positive in both attacking and defending situations. It’s a great session to run during the week if we are looking to work players hard, or in pre-season when building up fitness.

Biography

An experienced and charismatic coach Wally Downes was most recently manager of AFC Wimbledon. Prior to that he had been assisting Steve Coppell managing in the Indian Super League. Downes has also coached at West Ham United, Southampton, Reading, Crystal Palace, Gillingham and QPR. He also enjoyed two years in charge of Brentford, winning the Second Division Manager of the Month award in August 2002. As a player, Downes made 207 appearances for Wimbledon as they progressed from non-League side to FA Cup winners, but four broken legs curtailed his playing days and he was forced to hang up his boots at the age of 27.
