Biography

The former Spurs defender retired from playing in 2003 and initially coached at Watford’s academy. Briefly managing at Conference South level with Farnborough Town, he re-joined former club Southend United in 2005 as first team coach. Following consecutive promotions that took Southend to the Championship, Austin enjoyed spells as assistant manager at Watford, Reading and Notts County. Most recently he retuned to Watford as assistant manager to Slavisa Jokanovic, continuing in the same role alongside Quique Sánchez Flores after Watford’s promotion to the Premier League.
