Employed as director of methodology, and director of goalkeeping, sport science and coach education, respectively, at New England Futbol Club – an American semi-professional soccer club based in the Greater Boston, Massachusetts area – Peter and John will discuss their approach to producing dossiers which align to support the progression of their club.
ABOUT PETER
Peter Motzenbecker began his coaching career as a staff coach with United Soccer Academy, coaching numerous township-based and travel soccer programs throughout New Jersey.
He then spent time coaching at Austin Preparatory School, Boston University Men’s Club Soccer and Newbury College.
In January 2014 he took on his first technical director role, as boys technical director with Abbey Villa Soccer club. Roles followed at Global Premier Soccer, first as Metro Boston regional director, then national technical director, and Juventus Academy Boston as Greater Boston regional director.
In June 2021 Peter was appointed technical director of New England Futbol club. He is now director of methodology, responsible for the club game model, training methodology and curriculum.
He also serves as assistant technical director for the Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association, leading US Soccer D License and grassroots courses across the state.
He holds the USSF A License, The USSF A-Youth License, the USSF Club Technical Leadership Level 1 and the USC Premier Diploma.
Peter completed the Elite Soccer Coaching Award in the winter of 2025.
ABOUT JOHN
John Conlon was assistant women’s soccer coach at University of New Hampshire from 2005 to 2008, before taking on the same role at University of Massachusetts Amherst for a year.
In 2010, he was appointed assistant soccer coach at East Tennessee University, where he spent a year.
A return to New England followed in 2012, when he joined New England Futbol Club. John remains at the club, currently in the role of director of goalkpeeing, sport science and coach education.
He also serves as goalkeeping coach at Brandeis University.
He holds the USSF A License, the USSF Goalkeeper C License, the USSF Club Technical Leadership Level 1, the US Advanced National Goalkeeping Diploma and the USC Director of Coaching Diploma.
John completed the Elite Soccer Coaching Award in the winter of 2025.
