Coaching Sessions

Counter-attacking and counter-pressing

Counter-attacking and counter-pressing

The basis of this training session is counter-attacking and counter-pressing. We start with a tactical passing drill and then we go into an attacking and defending exercise, where three forwards attack with tempo in a 3v2.
Build up and attack with overloads

Build up and attack with overloads

This training session allows us to focus on attacking play with overloads. It also helps us to work on positional play and how to progress the ball into areas where the team can create chances and score goals. It helps players understand how to make the most of an overload and attack the goal with speed.

Counter-attacking masterclass

Counter-attacking masterclass

Run this session so that you’re prepared to counter-attack with an overload. When an opposition attack breaks down, it’s crucial to be ready and prepared to break quickly, so you can capitalise on the fact they are out of position.

Biography

Neil Lennon enjoyed a decorated playing career, most notably with Crewe Alexandra, Leicester City and Celtic, as well as representing Northern Ireland on the international stage.

Taking his first steps in coaching while still a player at Celtic, he was first team coach before he made the transition to caretaker manager towards the end of the 2009–10 season.

Appointed permanent manager shortly afterwards, he won three league titles, two domestic cups and enjoyed some memorable nights in the Champions League during his first stint as manager at Celtic Park.

After serving as manager of Bolton Wanderers and then Hibernian, with whom he won the Scottish Championship, Lennon returned to Celtic Park in February 2019. This time he led the Bhoys to another league and cup double, plus a league and cup treble.

He was most recently manager of Cypriot first division side, Omonia, a spell in charge that saw him lift the Cypriot Cup.
