Coaching Sessions

Defensive dexterity

Defensive dexterity

This session is about defending, both individually and as a unit. It’s crucial we practise this because we need defenders to recognise when to move forward and challenge an opposing striker, and when to hold back.
Quick combination play around the box

Quick combination play around the box

This session is about attacking players improving their decision-making and movement, and helps them build advanced understanding of how to create goalscoring opportunities around the box.
Crossing and finishing

Crossing and finishing

At Norwich City, we believe that you have to train the way you play, and this is a positive crossing and finishing routine that is direct and makes players adopt good habits.
Creating attacking overloads

Creating attacking overloads

Create overloads in attacking situations, whether that be while playing out from the back, attacking in wide areas, or attacking in the final third.

Biography

In a playing career that included lengthy spells with St Mirren, Motherwell and Celtic, Paul Lambert won just about every domestic honour in the Scottish game, but the undoubted highlight of his time on the pitch was winning the Champions League with Borussia Dortmund in 1997. He also earned 40 caps for Scotland and represented his country at the 1998 World Cup. After choosing to qualify for his UEFA Pro License in Germany, Lambert kicked off his coaching career back in Scotland with Livingston in 2005. He soon moved to the fourth tier of English football and led Wycombe Wanderers to the League Cup semi-finals in 2007. After earning a shock home draw with Chelsea in the first leg, the Chairboys were eliminated at Stamford Bridge in the return game, but it was a remarkable achievement. Building on this form the following season, he took Wycombe to the League Two play-offs. Following a brief spell in charge of Colchester United, he joined Norwich City in 2009 and immediately turned around the fortunes of the Canaries, leading the club to the League One title in his first season. His achievement was recognised when he was voted LMA League One Manager of the Year. The following season he took Norwich back to the Premier League after an absence of six years, finishing runners up in the Championship. This meant that Norwich had become the first club since Manchester City in 2000 to secure successive promotions back into the Premier League. He was again rewarded with the divisional Manager of the Year award. Despite leading the club through one campaign in the top flight and achieving a successful mid-table finish for the Canaries, soon after the end of the 2011-12 season he accepted the opportunity to manage Aston Villa. In his first season at Villa Park he guided the club to a 15th place finish in the Premier League and to the semi-finals of the League Cup. He has subsequently managed Blackburn Rovers and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Championship, before returning to the Premier League as manager of Stoke City in 2018. Lambert is currently manager of Ipswich Town.
