Dino Maamria: Pre-season in a men's first team

As a player, Dino Maamria progressed through the youth system at AS Marsa in Tunisia, before going on to represent the first team.
Across his 20-year playing career, he went on to represent various English clubs including Burnley, Doncaster Rovers, Southport, Rushden & Diamonds and Stevenage.
Having initially taken up coaching during his early playing days at Burnley, working with the youth teams while recovering from a broken leg, Maamria was appointed caretaker of manager of Northwich Victoria while playing for the club in 2007. At the end of the 2007-08 season, he was named Conference Manager of the Year.
In 2008, Maamria joined Stevenage Borough, a club for which he’d briefly played, as assistant manager to Graham Westley.
The club won the FA Trophy and won the Conference Premier title, securing promotion to the Football League for the first time in their history, during Maamria’s first full season there. The following season, the club won the League Two play-offs, achieving successive promotions.
In 2012, Maamria followed Westley to Preston North End, taking on the role of first-team coach. In 2013, Westley and Maamria returned to Stevenage, leading the team to the League Two play-offs, in which they lost in the semi-finals.
In 2016, Maamria was appointed manager of Southport, in the National League, another club for which he’d played.
A role at Newport Town followed, again under Westley, before being given the top job at Nuneaton Town.
Maamria was appointed as manager of League Two club Stevenage in 2018, and the team missed out on a play-off place by one point in the 2018-19 season.
A role as head coach of Oldham Athletic followed, before a stint as assistant manager to Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink at Burton Albion. When Hasselbaink resigned, Maamria was initially placed in caretaker charge before being appointed permanent manager. He led the club to League One safety with three games to spare.
Maamria’s most recent role was head coach of League Two club Barrow.
He holds the UEFA Pro Licence.
