Richie Barker

Richie Barker is currently assistant coach at Rotherham United. Before that he was most recently first-team coach at Charlton Athletic, previously coaching at MK Dons. Barker entered management for the first time with Bury after taking over following Alan Knill's move to Scunthorpe. He initially joined the club in June 2010 as head of youth development. Barker was appointed following a successful spell as caretaker boss where he guided the club to automatic promotion to npower League One. Also during his time in charge he was awarded the Manager of the Month for April 2011, for leading his side through a six-game unbeaten run which helped secure their promotion. He went on to enjoy a excellent first full season in charge at Gigg Lane as he led Bury to a mid-table finish in League One before he joined Crawley prior to the 2012/13 campaign. Crawley entered League One on the back of successive promotions and Barker guided the club to an impressive 10th place finish in their first term in English Football's 3rd tier. He remained with the club until November 2013. The former Rotherham, Mansfield, Hartlepool, Macclesfield and Brighton striker was forced to retire in May 2009 after a serious knee injury.
