Counter-attacking short and long

This session covers accuracy of passing both in deep areas of the pitch and in and around the goal. It also showcases combination play of centre-forwards and finishing techniques, third man running and defending situations when outnumbered.

Biography

Shaun Derry began his playing career at Notts County having joined the club at the age of 10 and came through the Academy to make 93 appearances at first team level. After 27 appearances in the 1997/98 Division Three championship season, he moved on to Sheffield United. A natural leader, who has been a popular figure at every club he has represented through his passionate displays, Derry has captained Portsmouth, Leeds United, Crystal Palace and Queens Park Rangers. He played a pivotal role in promotions to the top-flight with Palace and QPR. Derry enjoyed early success in his first managerial role at Notts County by securing their Sky Bet League One status in 2013/14. He subsequently managed Cambridge United and worked as first team coach at Oxford before returning to Palace as professional development coach in the academy. Derry is a graduate of the LMA Diploma in Football Management 2015-2016
