This session is very general, but not in a negative way. It’s very useful because it helps in all game situations. It’s technical and tactical with more than enough physical input.

A defensive transition session. It helps to get players into the habit of reacting immediately after losing possession and works on encouraging the group of players closest to the ball to prevent the opposition from developing an attacking action.

Biography

As a player, Slaven Bilic was part of the Croatia team that finished third at the 1998 World Cup. After hanging up his boots at hometown club Hajduk Split in 2001, Bilic took to coaching the team for the second half of the 2001-02 season.


In 2004 he was appointed manager of the Croatia U21 team, taking charge of the senior national side two years later and leading them to the quarter-finals of the 2008 European Championship, returning to the tournament four years later. He was appointed manager of Russian club Lokomotiv Moscow in 2012 and subsequently enjoyed a spell with Turkish side Besiktas, where he led them to consecutive third-place finishes. He then guided West Ham United to a seventh-place Premier League finish and UEFA Europa League qualification in his first season in charge.


In June 2019, Bilic became manager of West Bromwich Albion, securing automatic promotion to the Premier League at the first attempt.


He was appointed as manager of Al-Fateh in Saudi Arabia in July 2023.
