Midfield as a defensive unit

Midfield as a defensive unit

Use this session to get your midfield working as a defensive unit. It’s important to practise this because players in the midfield unit need to develop a clear understanding of their defensive roles. They must learn to be an effective bank without, as well as with, the ball.

Biography

Steve Lomas, a holder of the Uefa Pro License, quickly established himself as one of the emerging young managers in the game after guiding St Johnstone to European qualification for two consecutive seasons, including their highest ever finish in the SPL, where they finished third in 2012/13. The former Northern Ireland international midfielder began his managerial career at St Neots Town and took over the St Johnstone hotseat in November 2011 from former Lion Derek McInnes after a brief spell as reserve team coach at former club West Ham. Lomas subsequently managed Millwall. He is a graduate of the LMA's Certificate of Applied Management at Warwick University.
