We urge learners to combine what’s important in the ways their team plays football with the flexible & fluid principles of the Elite Soccer Coaching Award. This will enable people to further develop their own game model whilst considering contemporary approaches to stopping & starting attacks. These ideas have been successfully implemented across numerous footballing environments and support coaches to see the game through a dynamic, responsive and player focused lens.


By the completion of this component, learners will have developed and shared ideas on how their team plays & why.

Developing Players

We examine three critical factors in player development:

  1. Talent identification (how we think about player development)
  2. Player development programmes (the ways we align our support for players across time)
  3. Player progression (the importance of appropriate opportunity and the value of experiences in enabling players to fulfil aspirations)

Learners will profile players and develop a programme of support that aligns with these critical factors whilst looking at case studies of player journeys; making important connections between the ways their team plays and the players in their care.

 

NEXT: COACHING PLAYERS & FOOTBALL

Coaching Players & Football

Our coaching will combine the way we would like our team to play ("Playing Football") with the deep understanding of our players already explored through the "Developing Players" component. Hence, every session and interaction will blend player needs with our game model.

 

We will help you to achieve this by encouraging a value being placed on a constraints-led approach to coaching and developing both a curriculum and practice sessions that reflect this.

What We Measure

Component four supports learners to build and develop processes to measure and assess how effectively their coaching is helping the team, club and, most importantly, the players achieve what is important.

 

We will look at some case studies of how different environments achieve this and support coaches with varying levels of resource to keep a close eye of whether what we are doing is what we said was important.

Is the CPD accredited?

We provide accredited CPD through events with our partners the League Managers Association and London FA. Events that award CPD are marked in advance and require submission of your FAN and your attendance at the event. These events may be online or in person.

 

Additionally, if you are working in a professional academy you can seek accreditation through your YCD. Presenting your dossier to your YCD is an excellent way to demonstrate your personal development through Elite Soccer.

Will my club pay for it?

Perhaps. Some clubs have paid for coaches to enrol but this is at the club’s discretion. We can provide clubs with a discount for enrolling multiple coaches. Ask your Head of Coaching to contact kevin@elitesoccercoaching.net for more details.

What is a dossier?

Your dossier is a personal reflection of what you value, how you live those values and how you maintain alignment. It can be as broad and deep as you need it to be.

 

There is no template to complete and your dossier may never be "complete". We recommend you begin your journey with us by building your dossier, following the 4 components of our syllabus. In completing your dossier you’ll design your own syllabus during the following weeks and months you’ll refer back to it, develop and refine it as you continue to explore approaches to coaching and player development.

Are the live events recorded?

Yes. But we recommend attending events (online and in-person) as these provide the opportunity to speak directly with your peers and the industry experts.

 

Recordings are located in our resource area and connected to our syllabus.
