Scoring against a low block

This is a possession practice to help players develop an understanding of the concepts of how to create and use space, particularly how to create 1v1 and 2v1 opportunities in orders to score when playing against a low block.

Biography

Nick Cushing is assistant manager of MLS club New York City. He was previously manager of  Manchester City Women who he led to success in the WSL, FA Cup (twice) and Continental Cup (three times). He also developed a series of young British players. Having worked at City in various coaching capacities over a nine-year period, Chester-born Cushing accepted the challenge of leading the newly-revived women's team in November 2013. He was manager the year after leading City to the title in 2016. He started his career as a schools coach, working with junior teams. He then went on to become part of the coaching staff at Manchester City’s Academy. During that time, he worked within the 12-16 Development Phase of coaching, collecting an A-Licence qualification along the way. He has also studied Management and Leadership, plus Business and Accounting. In early 2020 he switched roles within the City Football Group moving to New York to assist Ronny Delia.
